Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE, pronounced T-K-E or even "Teke", when around teak wood) is a college fraternity with chapters primarily in the USA and Canada, and was founded in January 10, 1899 at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois. Presently, TKE boasts extra chapters than any more fraternity in the globe. TKE's 5 Founders were One hundred. Roy Atkinson, Clarence Arthur Mayer, James Carson McNutt, Joseph Lorenzo Settles, & Owen Ison Truitt.
TKE was originally known as a Knights of Classic Lore sustaining the goal of establishing a fraternity in which membership is according to personalized worth & character like than rank, wealth, or even honor.
When of August 2005, Tau Kappa Epsilon had 271 active collegial chapters & colonies throughout a United States & Canada, getting it the title big college fraternity worldwide by total of chapters.
